Little Learners Room

This room is for children aged between 2 years and 3 years 8 months.

Welcome to our Little Learners Room! Here our children develop into active learners in preparation for their transition into pre-school.  Through time-tabled activities and self-exploration children are able to engage with the environment around them, steering and scaffolding their understanding of the world in which we live.

Within this room we cover all aspects of the Early Years Curriculum with a core focus on early mathematics investigation, communication and language, and mark making in preparation for writing. Encouraging our children to develop and use these skills within their play at an early age, ensures a firm foundation of basic skills as they reach primary school.

Daily circle time as a group creates opportunities for our children to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings; conversing with their friends and learning to listen in turn.

Learning is launched weekly through the use of our class ‘curiosity cube’ where children are encouraged to explore and question the cubes contents. Throughout the week the contents of the cube changes as the children’s curiosity and understanding of the topic develops through a range of pre-planned learning activities, covering the Early Years Curriculum.

As a nursery we believe in the opportunity to extend learning outside as much as possible and benefit from a beautiful and large private garden! Our Little Learners room has direct access to our garden, meaning our children can explore outside throughout the day.
